DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Rough Ground by interdisciplinary artist Nancy Görlach will be on view at GATE TO in the courtyard of Alte Münze from October 8 to October 25\, 2026. \n☆ Vernissage is on Thursday\, October 8th ☆ \n☆ Open Hours: If you would like to meet Nancy\, she’ll be at GATE TO on October 13th from 3 til 6pm and on October 17th from 2 til 5pm☆ \nFor Nancy\, art is not something fixed. It is something that grows\, transforms\, and sometimes refuses to grow at all. Moving between performance\, painting\, new media\, and installation\, she creates spaces where materials\, memories\, and people meet. Her colourful paintings become stages\, abandoned landscapes turn into places of possibility\, and everyday objects become carriers of memory. Through layers of colour\, movement\, and digital imagery\, Nancy explores the spaces and gaps that remain after something has been left behind. \nFor this exhibition\, Nancy works with objects and glasses from the former GDR\, materials that carry personal and collective memories of another time. These objects become more than remnants of the past. They hold space for change\, for new encounters\, and for the possibility of something unexpected emerging. The exhibition also explores the idea of the threshold: a space between one place and another\, between past and present\, between being inside and remaining outside. \nRather than presenting art as something to be viewed from a distance\, Nancy opens up the possibility of being present. During the exhibition\, she will be there on selected days\, opening the doors and inviting visitors to come inside\, sit together\, share a tea\, or have a conversation. \nRough Ground becomes a space of waiting\, transformation\, and togetherness. It asks what happens when we allow things to grow in their own time\, when we stay with uncertainty\, and when a space once defined by separation becomes a place of connection. \n→ Read more about Nancy and her work here \n°｡⋆⸜ ✩✮･*✧ \nGATE TO is a permanent exhibition space at the site of Alte Münze. The former doorman’s house enters into dialogue with its urban surroundings\, opening the boundaries between art and public space.
