Hahm Donghyoup is a Berlin-based artist whose artistic journey began at the renowned Click Academy in Hongdae, Seoul. He later studied fashion design at Myoungji University, building a multidisciplinary foundation through work in fashion, graphic design, and illustration. In 2019, he relocated to Berlin to fully dedicate himself to painting, drawing on this diverse creative background to inform his practice, which spans traditional oil and acrylic works as well as digital media.

Navigating the space between figuration and abstraction, Hahm’s visual language engages with the tension between classical painting and graphic illustration. His compositions probe the liminal spaces between reality and the subconscious, the tangible and the imagined, crafting intimate, subjective environments from glimpses out a friend’s window to fleeting afterimages and phosphenes.

In his digital paintings, Hahm captures the sensation of snapshots from surreal, vividly colored realms, often populated with whimsical creatures. His nuanced use of color ranges from muted, distorted tones to luminous, intricate worlds, inviting viewers into a playful yet enigmatic exploration of perception, form, and chromatic expression.
