InterKontinental e.V. veranstaltet seit 6 Jahren das African Book Festival in Berlin. In diesem Jahr findet das Festival vom 28.-30. Juni als Queer Edition statt, also mit dem Fokus auf afrikanische und afrodiasporische Autor*innen aus der LGBTQI+-Community und auf Literatur, in der Homosexualität und Queerness in Afrika eine Rolle spielen.
Im Rahmen eines dreitägigen Festivalprogramms bestehend aus Lesungen, Diskussionen, Musik, Poetry-Performances und interaktiven, modernen Eventformaten bekommt das Publikum Gelegenheit, Stars und Newcomer live zu erleben und ins Gespräch zu kommen. Begleitet wird das Programm durch einen großen Outdoormarkt, der verschiedene Speisen, Waren und natürlich jede Menge Bücher anbietet.
Das African Book Festival bietet seinen Festivalgästen einen Brave Space, für ihr Schreiben, ihre Erfahrungen und Perspektiven. Es thematisiert die Verfolgung von homo-, bi-, trans- und intersex Personen sowie genderqueeren Menschen weltweit und sensibilisiert. Gleichzeitig präsentiert das Festival Literaturschaffende, die in ihrem Schreiben vor allem eines zelebrieren: Die Liebe.

InterKontinental e.V. has been organizing the African Book Festival in Berlin for 6 years. This year, the festival takes place from June 28th to 30th as a Queer Edition, focusing on African and Afro-diasporic authors from the LGBTQI+ community and showcasing literature in which homosexuality and queerness in Africa play a role.
As part of a three-day festival program consisting of readings, discussions, music, poetry performances and interactive, modern event formats, the audience will have the opportunity to experience stars and newcomers live and engage in conversation with them. The program is accompanied by a large outdoor market offering a variety of food, goods and, of course, plenty of books.
The African Book Festival offers its festival guests a brave space for their writing, experiences and perspectives. It addresses the persecution of homo-, bi-, trans- and intersex people as well as genderqueer people worldwide and raises awareness. At the same time, the festival presents writers who in their writing celebrate one thing above all: Love.
